Knitting with Beads

Knitting with Beads

In the next session of the knitting club we are going to learn all about knitting with beads and I am so excited about the kits I have to offer. We are going to get started with a practice project and learn two ways to place beads on our knitting. Then, we will knit a lightweight summer shawl with beads that is very pretty (see the picture below). The yarn is a beautiful 100% Mulberry Silk, hand dyed from Ali Pate of Road Trip Sock Yarn. I have put kits together that include everything you will need to knit both items: yarn, pattern, beads, and tools to place the beads. The next session of the knitting club will begin on Wednesday, May 8th. I have been wanting to knit with beads for years and I don’t know why I did not put it higher on my priority list because I think I might be addicted to it. You can get more information and see all eight colorways available by clicking the button below. I know you will love this project and I really can’t wait to share it with you! The Chicks with Sticks Knitting Club is nice to be able to participate in a group activity and not have to leave your house. We knit really fun projects together at a slower pace so we have time to socialize and get to know each other. All of our lessons are recorded and you can access those recordings for the time you are a member of the club.  If you want to receive your Knitting with Beads kit before we get started I recommend you order your kit by today, as I will be out of town for a few days and I want to make sure I ship your kit before I leave.

ESTES PARK WOOL MARKET

This year I am teaching two full day classes at the Estes Park Wool Market on June 6 & 7th. First my ever popular Perfectly Fitting Sweater Class is where I share all my knowledge to choosing the right yarn, pattern, gauge, ease and size. Say all of that three times fast! You will come away with a lot of knowledge and be excited to knit a sweater that actually fits you. Next, My Shawl Knitting Tips & Tricks class will feature the beautiful Fort Collins shawl where I will share all my tips and tricks about knitting a really pretty scarf. The shawl is beautiful and I think you will love all my tips. You can get registered for the Estes Park Wool Market classes directly on their website by clicking the button below.

Building with Lace

Building with Lace begins on May 28th and in this class we will not only make a really pretty shawl, but we will knit nine different lace patterns and learn how to place beads on an applied border. Students will learn the most common increases & decreases, simple lace patterns, cables, chart reading, and finishing techniques. This live Zoom class includes 11 sessions and you will also have access to the recordings for each technique. You can register for this class by clicking the button below.

Summer Sweater Class

For the last several years I have offered a Summer Sweater Class because sweaters aren’t only for winter! With the selection of lightweight yarn and so many cute styles, wearing things you make yourself in the summer should be a requirement. This year, we are going to knit Casapinka’s Shaved Ice summer tee. Shaved Ice is a cool, lightweight summer top that has a bit of lace, a bit of texture, and a pretty V neck. It can be made with one solid color or four colors. Class will cover basic sweater fitting, and will also include a variety of techniques: knitting in the round and transitioning to flat knitting, lace knitting, chart reading, special stitches called out in the pattern, German short rows, 3 needle bind-off, and finishing techniques. I am going to do mine in one color and I am using Rowan Summerlite 4-ply. It is a very nice cotton yarn that will make the perfect summer top. You can register for the in person class that will begin on June 20th or you can register for the digital class with live Q&A sessions that will begin on June 19th.
